Safety is a basic need and is fundamental to providing culturally safe and responsive emergency care in a violence-free and empowering environment.

First Nation Language, Culture and Values will infuse all aspects of the shelter's operations and services to clients.

Clients and staff alike will conduct themelves in a manner that shows respect to oneself and to others.  This includes acknowledging and celebrating differences and diversity as well as respecting client choices.

Equipping clients with the tools, knowledge and resources needed to live safe and violence-free lives underscores the shelter's committment to empower clients to take control of their lives.

Nignen Women's Shelter uses an Indigenous-based trauma-informed approach and services to support clients.
